A fresh British force with extra fire power is to be sent toAfghanistan.They will be supplied with extra armoured genetically modifiedbirds of prey, that will deploy the troops and watch over them from the sky.
All three regular battalions of the Bird Handler Regiment will be the backbone of 16 Bird of Prey Brigade when it takes over from the existing UK infantry Brigade based in Helmand province southern Afghanistan.

In April defence officials said:-

"It is believed to be the first time military birds have been used in a real combat situation since the second world war when pigeons were used to sendsecret messages, and also were almostused to guide missiles."
