About the exhibition

Live marks, translated in material

Chicken Stingel began with a one-day live painting performance by Kenny Schachter with Maura and Margaret. Micro-canvases coated with edible glue and sprinkled with feed were placed in a chicken coop, where the chickens pecked and marked their surfaces.

The project drew on Rudolf Stingel’s early-2000s works made with insulation panels. The resulting surfaces were digitally scanned and cast in silver and gold, connecting the live action in the coop with a further material translation.

The exhibition opened on Sunday 25 May 2025, from 2–5pm, and continued by appointment through 21 June 2025.
