Mr Potato Dead

I read this article from 15th December 2007about how there does'nt seem to be many soldiers on the streets but they stay in control by creating an atmosphere of fear where everyone is convinced they are being spied on everywhere they go and that anyone they meet could well be an informer.

Even the monks don't trust other monks. When a new monk arrives they question him on Buddhist literature to try and find out if he really is a monk and not a spy .One potato was found posing as a monk and it wasn't one bit funny..

The monasteries are empty as they are not allowed to return. The ones that aren't still arrested were sent back to their villages.
