People will get excited about the thought of sliding down a mountain at 60 mph or jumping out of an aeroplane at 3000 metres. Yet it is a fact that the very same species that coil up in dread at the thought of visiting the dentist. Are dental appointments really that bad?

A leading dental surgeon has suggested dentists should introduce more adrenalin inducing activity in to their practice to make it a bit more exciting.

Mr Floss of the Royal Institute of Dental Experts (RIDE) said yesterday:

"I want a qualified dental surgeon to sit with me in the front seats of a roller coaster ( perhaps the cork screw at Alton Towers.) Let him rip out those stubborn wisdom teeth while rocketing upside down at 90mph.

I look forward to seeing a mouthful of blood pour 100 metres down to the cueing weather beaten masses below.

They will all have appointments booked for anything from fillings to fittings for braces and those who are already in pain will be given priority."
