Project context

Better Than Christmas

This painting was made for Better Than Christmas, an Arts Council England-funded participatory art project by James Connelly and Leila Redpath. In 2008, we surveyed 1,000 people, asking: ‘If you could have anything you wanted for Christmas, what would it be?’ This participant answered: ‘an A La Carte toy kitchen remembered from childhood play with a friend who was only seen once or twice a year’ Selected responses were transformed into paintings.

More information about the project and the other wish paintings can be found at betterthanchristmas.com.
