This painting was made for Better Than Christmas in response to a request to represent a baby girl who had been stillborn more than thirty years earlier. The wish-maker said that their sister’s loss had never been acknowledged and that the family was trying to put that right. The painting belongs to that careful act of recognition, and the surviving words are presented with restraint and respect.
